FROM AAABA TO THE MAJOR LEAGUES
Every year the AAABA plays host to hundreds of the most talented amateur baseball players in the country. The AAABA tournament has become a regular summertime stop for many major league scouts. Often you will see scouts from twenty or more teams watching closely for future prospects. In fact, many AAABA alumni that have gone on to the major leagues have credited their appearance in the tournament for getting them first noticed.
While there is no official number on exactly how many former AAABA players have advanced to the major leagues, through extensive research I have developed the most comprehensive list available. The odds of playing in a major league baseball game are slim to none, the fact that so many AAABA players have lived that dream speaks to the quality and level of talent that the AAAABA brings to Johnstown each and every year. In addition, hundreds more have gone on to sign professional contracts and advance to the minor league level. To date, the Washington DC franchise has sent over sixty players to the major leagues, more than any other franchise. Other franchises such as Detroit, Baltimore, and Brooklyn have also amassed an impressive resume of major leaguers.
