Johnstown native Tom Yewcic was one of the area's best athletes. Tom lead Michigan State to an NCAA National Football Title in 1952 and was a College Baseball World Series MVP in 1954. Tom would play Major League Baseball with the Detroit Tigers and would later play with the Boston Patriots of the American Footbal League as a Kicker and Quarterback.
